It is a relatively high mountain region with low population density. There are seven rivers cutting stony valleys in Las Hurdes: The Río Malo or Ladrillar, Batuecas, Hurdano, Malvellido, Esperabán, Ovejuela and the Río de Los Ángeles.
Bellow is the Malvellido river, which has numerous meanders along the convoluted path. The most spectacular are under the viewpoint of El Gasco. A panoramic view, with the spectacular torrent of water from the river.

Todra I / Tinghir, Morocco http://danielsantosgallery.zenfolio.com/blog/2016/3/todra-i-tinghir-morocco Todra (or Todgha) Gorge is a canyon in the eastern part of the High Atlas Mountains in Morocco, near the town of Tinghir. Both the Todra and neighbouring Dades Rivers have carved out cliff-sided canyons on their final 40 kilometres (25 mi) through the mountains.
The area is no longer as remote as it once was. A well-maintained asphalt road leads up the valley from Tinghir to the gorge. A concrete road continues up the valley, past the hotels at the mouth of the gorge all the way to the villages of Aït Hani, Tamtatouchte, and Imilchil..

Cloudscape / Sanabria Natural Park, Spain http://danielsantosgallery.zenfolio.com/blog/2016/2/cloudscape-sanabria-natural-park-spain The Sanabria Lake Natural Park is located around the Sanabria Lake, northwest part of the Zamora Province in Spain. It occupies a surface area of 22,365ha, with heights ranging from 3,270ft (997m) at the lake banks to the 6,968ft (2,124m) of the peak of Peña Trevinca.
The great biodiversity is one of the main features of the ecosystem of the park. Woods of oak coexist with birch, alder, hazel, willow, ash, rowan, chestnut, holly and yews along with large extensions of scrubland (broom). In the highlands, broom is usually replaced by heath. Here, the abundance of little glacial lakes, snowfall, sources and streams allows the existence of peat bogs, a rarity in these latitudes.

Great Medina / Fez, Morocco http://danielsantosgallery.zenfolio.com/blog/2016/1/great-medina-fez-morocco Founded in the 9th century and home to the oldest university in the world, Fez reached its height in the 13th–14th centuries under the Marinids, when it replaced Marrakesh as the capital of the kingdom. The urban fabric and the principal monuments in the medina – madrasas, fondouks, palaces, residences, mosques and fountains - date from this period. Although the political capital of Morocco was transferred to Rabat in 1912, Fez has retained its status as the country's cultural and spiritual centre.

Probably the fact that it is less well known and not as trendy is what makes the asturian essence stronger and more noticeable in Somiedo, making it more genuine and true.

The images were captured during a four days trip (August 2014) in this beautiful place located in Northern Spain, the video took about a year to assemble (very slowly).

One of its most dramatic aspects is the North Face upon which there are a number of serious ascent routes requiring skill and commitment. Below the North Face is the impressively situated mountain refuge - the Refuge des Oulettes de Gaube. The approach from the north entails a delightful walk up to and around the picturesque Lac de Gaube giving increasingly dramatic views of the mountain.

Almendra / Douro Valley, Portugal http://danielsantosgallery.zenfolio.com/blog/2015/10/almendra-douro-valley-portugal The Douro Valley offers a fantastic and unique landscape from the mouth of the Douro river located in the city of Oporto all the way up to the hills and terraces where the grapes that are the essence of the world famous Port Wine and other renown wines grow and mature. The microclimate and special characteristics of the terrain are key factors for the success of the vineyards. This is the region of the International Douro Natural Park which is shared between Portugal and Spain being the river the natural border between the two countries. Here the landscape is more natural, raw, wild and most definitely more beautiful.

Côa / Côa Valley Archaeological Park, Portugal http://danielsantosgallery.zenfolio.com/blog/2015/9/coa-coa-valley-archaeological-park-portugal The Côa River is a tributary of the Douro River, in central and northeastern Portugal. It is one of the few Portuguese rivers that flows south to north.
Thousands of ancient carvings in stone were discovered in the Côa Valley in the 1980s and 1990s. These are of particular interest due to the high concentration of Paleolithic art, and because these carvings are found outside of caves, on rocks in plain sight: Jean Clottes, a prominent French prehistorian, had confirmed that "is the biggest open air site of paleolithic art in Europe, if not in the world". The Côa Valley Archaeological Park, opened in 1996, was declared a protected UNESCO world heritage site in 1998.
