Near the Serra da Estrela Natural Park in Portugal lies the little village of Parente that is believed to be ancient, probably dating back to before the founding of the Portuguese nationality. The collection of artifacts gathered in the region leads to believe that this village was occupied by the Romans probably due to the fact that within the vicinity, in the floodplains of the Alvôco river, mining operations existed. This little village rests on the river banks where the Alvôco river forms a beautiful weir captured in the following picture.
